evolution of art.

we have made a new step from scribbles to circles and sometimes... to faces! zoe drew her first picture shortly after she turned one. it was the first picture that i remember documenting and writing 'zoe's first picture' and i know the date was november 11th. of course, i can't find it now but flipping through some old notebooks, this was among the first of zoe art...

in an effort to NOT lose these new special pieces, here i am. we are adding lots more color these days...

and circles are a theme. and they are starting to turn into faces! (with no coaxing from me...)

my sister emma squealed in delight and then fell to the floor pretend crying and i rushed into the kitchen thinking someone died the way she reacted. she said nooooooooo.... zoe just drew a picture of you on the chalkboard and then she erased it! but it was her first face picture, and apparently it was of me! emma reenacted it for me, in true zoe fashion. so here it is... a picture of a drawing by a person pretending to be zoe. close enough, right?

emma said, she did your head! and then your eyes! and your mouth! and your little hairs! and then your neck. my hair is definitely my favorite part.

and the thing that zoe is most proud of as of late...

[she thought it necessary to be shirtless today, silly clothes!]

is that she learned to draw Q's:

and something i'm excited about... she's a lefty! we have Q's littered about our house, with extra long tails. and i love them all. emma brought home a worksheet from the preschool class she teaches and zoe was all about learning to draw the letters. every time she draws one she proclaims, wook, a Q!

there you have it... the latest evolution in zoe art.
